Driving, Leading and Babies. Summer must be here!

Stressful day at work ..... Pony therapy needed.
Hot Summers evening, perfect then for taking the little madam that is thimble out in her trap. Employing the use of her Aunty Gabbi so that I can still walk with her and up my own fitness.... Ideal.
Safe to say that my little pony is a little on the tubby side. This is because she has the skill of becoming fat on fresh air. Even on a virtually bare paddock she still has the ability to pile on the pounds in a way that makes me look slim!
Needless to say, even the idea of a sedate walk out in her trap did not appeal to my little darling and she was not amused at being hitched up.
However despite her grumpy face as soon as we set off she seemed to remember how much she likes being out. And being the awesomely nice mum that I am, I jumped out once we got going so that she had an easier job, and I walked with her.
Well I'm starting to enjoy this getting fit lark, when you have an awesome dog, boyfriend or pony to walk with it seems much more enjoyable.
Also we are going to be plaiting up when we go out so that when we do upgrade to the posh leather harness and the four wheeler then we will look amazing.
The other reason for plaiting for practise is that I know so many horses that are stupid to do because to them plaiting means going somewhere, hunting or competing.
I am determined that my ponies will always be good to plait because it just wont be a big deal.
Also can we just take a minute to admire the back end of this pony. She is such a little chunk!!

Also having gotten permission to start work with the babies I thought I had better make a start.
With no further ado, meet Dollas.
He is a recently gelded 3-4 year old colt (Cant remember his exact age... will have to look that up).
He is simply stunning and I will hate making him look like a proper domesticated horse because frankly I love his current look aka spirit in real life.
He has had a headcollar on previously in life but leading is basically  a case of Dollas will go wherever Dollas pleases.
'Are we going home no Dollas?'
'No actually I saw a butterfly... I want to get it'
Today we spent a short amount of time, only five minutes, working out how to back up a step when asked, instead of just mugging someone.
He's learning fast!
He is also doing this with a headcollar and leadrope on so that it becomes normal for him. The gentle pressure queue will then be shifted from his chest to pressure on the rope.
You can see by the expression on his face that he is mischief, but very lovable mischief and I am sure in a few months he will be a lovely little horse that will be ready for starting.

Tomorrow will be another Stella day, Probably ridden seeing as she loved her ride the other day. Her leading is also improving every day and she is starting to rush a little less.
Now It might be time to take the mad dog for a night time walk before bed.
Last night was hilarious!
I will see if I can get some photos of her bouncing through the long grass.
